- To set up a professional audition, please contact Kenny Gannon
- Student auditions are announced by campus email at least one month in advance.
- Auditions are open to all PC students.
- The director will make final casting decisions in consultation with other faculty and guest artists concerning the specific expectations of student performers and the unique requirements of any production.
- Casting results will be posted via email as soon after the auditions as possible.
- All casting decisions are made with the provision for adjustments made at the discretion of the production team due to unforeseen circumstances between the time of casting and the production.
- Standbys will be assigned for certain roles.
- Current students will be cast whenever possible. If the director, in consultation with the faculty and guest artists, feels that no current student is suitable for a role, the role will be cast at the discretion of the production team.
- At the audition, students must list work schedules and any other responsibilities, such as family plans, weddings, etc., that could conflict with the production schedule in the semester of the production. In many cases, casting will be influenced by the number of conflicts. An agreement will be signed at the time of casting, stating that there will be no changes made to that conflict list. Students should seriously consider the obligations and responsibilities of accepting a role in a PCT production.
- All students cast in any role must be available for all coaching sessions, staging and other rehearsals beginning in the semester of the production. Work schedules, teaching schedules and any other commitments the student may have must be re-arranged to accommodate the needs of the entire cast and crew.
- It is the responsibility of the student to keep in constant contact with the stage manager on a daily basis through checking email and voice mail messages from the time of casting until the completion of the final performance. Failure to follow the stated expectations and procedures may result in the actor being removed from the production without notice.
- Students who violate college rules, who are disruptive, who are habitually late, who are unprepared or who in the view of the production team are hurting the production in any way may be removed from the cast at any time.
- Students who are cast in any role will be required to register for Theatre Participation during the semester of the production. The syllabus for that course will clearly state the production schedule. The specific requirements of that syllabus must be followed.
- Students who participate in shows must attend and complete assignments for all classes.
- PCT practices nontraditional casting, which is the casting of actors without regard to ethnicity, gender, or physical capability when those elements are not necessary to the characters or plays development.
- PCT offers scholarships for deserving new and returning theatre students. Scholarships are awarded based on merit and need and by audition and are awarded on a semester by semester basis at the discretion of the production team and director. Monetary values of individual scholarships will vary from semester to semester depending upon performance, need, assignment and other factors at the discretion of the production team. Scholarship awards are confidential. To be eligible, returning students must meet these requirements: Must be full time students (It is possible to apply for only one semester) and in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50. Scholarship students are required to audition for all shows. If not cast in an onstage role, scholarship holders must work backstage on at least one show per semester. The amount and type of work assigned is based on the amount of the scholarship award. PCT offers acting and technical theatre scholarships. Awards are given before a project or semester begins but are only actually given (and only actually appear as credit on a students bill) once the project has been successfully completed and not before. In other words, you have to complete the project in good standing and with the review and approval of the director and the production team before an award can be received and credited to account. Awards have to be earned. Student must complete the project in an excellent manner displaying leadership and team spirit before a student earns and receives the award. If a student fails to live up to the expectations of the production team and director, then a student may not receive the award.
- Academic honesty is expected of all students. Students are responsible for knowing how to maintain academic honesty and for abstaining from cheating, the appearance of cheating, and permitting or assisting in anothers cheating and for following the Peace College Honor Code. Any student who violates the Honor Code will be subject to immediate dismissal from the theatre program.
- It is the policy of Peace College to maintain the campus as a place of work and study for faculty, staff, and students free from all forms of harassment and discrimination. In providing an educational and work climate that is positive and harassment free, faculty, staff, and students should be aware that harassment and discrimination in the workplace or educational environment is unacceptable conduct and will not be tolerated.
- Students who encounter difficulties will at the request of the production team be required to visit with campus counselors who will assist the student with strategies and planning for success.
